Am I logically impaired when it comes to being open minded about possible alien visitation?

I wonder, if the first intelligent race of beings in the universe, ever had a "UFO/ET phenomena" in there early history. Just picture millions (billions?) of years ago, on some far away alien planet, a alien race and civilization, wondering and believing there must be intelligent life out there, that there is no way they could be alone, and yet, unknown to them, they were.
