7 mth old and sippy cup..?

I bought my 7 mth old a sippy cup because like always WIC wants to have it there way but in a certain kind of way I agree with them. They told me not to put juices into a bottle that way they don't ociate good tastes with the bottle. They told me to start off with a sippy cup and some juice. So that's what I did I got the kind with the handles because he really can't hold it himself yet and he still really can't. He also don't tilt his head back. So that's my question is it to early for a sippy cup and when will he learn to hold his own bottle and sippy cup and tilt his head back when he needs to get the rest of the drink?
