How does fertilization benefit a species vs. aual reproduction?

Aual reproduction occurs with no recombination of genes. The offspring have the same genes as the parent, a clone essentially. This is problematic because if a parent has a deficiency somehow, it is ped on and on and on. On the other hand with ual reproduction, there are over a trillion unique genomes possible with two parents. The odds of ping something on that is detrimental to the survival of the organism is significantly less.
