Question about canker sores?

salt is suppose to be a good remedy for canker sores, i read that salt water is good, and if you're brave and can stand pain, applying salt directly is really good, i've done this before and it works well, sorta...anyway this time the wound where my canker sore is started to bleed for a second, is that normal?
